About Our Chapter

Hi, I’m Elvia, and so excited to step into the role of Managing Leader of Chicktime Galveston. Before I share a little about myself, I would like to thank Leticia Sablan for having the vision to start our chapter and build a partnership with the Family Crisis Center in Galveston. I am thrilled for her as she moves into her new calling of Marriage and Family Ministry.

I a mother of two beautiful girls Kimberly and Arien and a grandmother to Mason & Alexandria …my children and grandchildren fill my life with happiness. I have been a nurse for 24 years. As a nurse it is my privileged to be His hands and feet and serve His flock.

My inspiration for serving has always been my mother. She had an amazingly beautiful heart and though we had very little she always gave SO much. I was in awe at her wake at the many people who came up to me and told me story after story of how she fed them, how she gave them clothes, and I wondered HOW??? We were so poor. I truly believe that when you have a passion for Christ and you have His heart, He provides. My mother gave because she knew what it felt like not to have.

I am honored to lead Chicktime Galveston in her honor and to carry on my mother’s tradition of caring for others. There is pain in this world and we are commanded to care for our brothers and Sisters, YES we are our brother’s keepers.

There is a song by Brandon Heath that I absolutely love, “Give Me Your Eyes.” Take a moment and let the words to this beautiful song sink in.

“Give me your eyes for just one second. Give me your eyes so I can see, Everything that I keep missing, Give your love for humanity. Give me your arms for the broken-hearted The ones that are far beyond my reach. Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten. Give me Your eyes so I can see.”

This song has become my prayer. I am thankful that Christ has chosen me to serve. Please join me! Together we can accomplish so much more than alone.

We would love for you to join us on our journey to add love and joy to the lives of these children. Our volunteers are what keeps our chapter going and that is why we need you too! Warmly,

Our History:

Chicktime Galveston was founded in 2013 by Leticia Sablan. We are thankful that Leticia always felt called to start a ministry and chose Chicktime. Leticia is very passionate about serving those in need especially victims of human trafficking and victims of abuse and homeless so Chicktime was a perfect fit.  Her big heart for children living in horrible situations led her to partner Chicktime Galveston with the Family Crisis Center. The issue of abuse is very sensitive and real. In 2016, Leticia felt the call to take a deeper role in ministry with her husband and passed the Chicktime baton to one of her dedicated volunteers and chapter co-leader, Elvia. Leticia still volunteers with Chicktime Galveston and we will be forever grateful for Leticia’s dedication to founding this chapter and wish her the best of luck in her next adventure!
