June Update:
Ice cream and board games to kick off the weird weather summer months here in Michigan with the kids of D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s! 🍦🌤🥰
Volunteer opportunities are available every third Saturday of the month with Chicktime—the non-profit working to build connections and add value to our community by way of working with kids that have experienced severe trauma, abuse, and neglect.
They are light!! And it’s a minimal time commitment.
May Update:
This past Saturday a workshop with the kids of D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s was all about finances! 🤑
The first hour was spent talking about money, paychecks, checks, and stocks🏦
The second hour was spent playing this game and the kids had a blast!!
If you want to run your own workshop with the kids to add value to their life, we would love to have you and will help you every step of the way!
These kids are light and they need all the love we can give.
Volunteers are always welcome too🥰
Workshops are held on the third Saturday of every month from 2-4pm!
Minimal commitment with great reward💚

February Update:
It was a successful afternoon filled with self love/care activities at our Chicktime event at D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s! 💕
The smoothie bar was a hit as the kids sipped on delicious, fresh smoothies🍍
The affirmation station allowed the kids to make banners that they can hang in their room to remind them of how worthy they are of love—a few words I saw on their banners included “strong”, “beautiful”, “loyal”.
One child wrote on their banner as a reminder every morning, “my scars do not define me.” 😭🖤
The meditation station focused on mindfulness and breathing techniques to relax and focus on the present. 🧘🏼♀️Even an older highschool boy who is usually “too cool” for all of the activities we do was really excited and engaged in the meditation! And another gave me a hug for the first time because even though he has this cool dude attitude, you can tell he’s thankful we show up every month.
The sun catcher making station allowed the kids to express themselves + how therapeutic! And they got to take something away that can shine light into their lives. Super thankful for all the volunteers that showed up to help with the event! If you’re looking to make an impact in lives, this is a low commitment, amazing way to do so!
Our hearts are full and these kids are amazing!

January Update:
We made dream catchers with the kids of D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s today!💖✌🏼
The kids loved it and were so creative with their designs!
Even the high school boys who at first were acting too cool for the craft ended up participating and making them for others they cared about.
One sweet girl asked if they actually work and I told her I think they do. She was so excited to have good dreams after today.
Another boy, no more than 10 years old, said he was going to hang it up and hoped he wouldn’t have bad dreams for the first time in 3 years.😭
These kids have suffered the worst of abuse and neglect, filling them with trauma and fear. It breaks my heart when I think about it because they are SO amazing.
Committing a couple hours one Saturday a month is easy peezy when it means so much to them. It’s about developing relationships and showing them that they are cared for and worth showing up for.
If you’re interested in volunteering, we are always looking for help with these events and workshops leader to run the events! Please reach out if you’re wanting to help and want to have a low commitment volunteer opportunity that has GREAT reward! ☺️ these kids are light.
Cheers to the weekend and having sweet dreams💕

November Update:
Had a great time with the kids of D.A. Blodgett yesterday! We decorated cookies and I’m pretty sure they ate more frosting than anything. We also had the biggest turn out yet for Chicktime volunteers! It makes us so excited to see this baby organization beginning to grow!
**We had about 40 kids come to this event, but due to privacy and the sensitive nature of their trauma, pictures can not be taken of the kids. Just know that they are light in this place💛

June Update:
YAY! Our first Chicktime GR is in the books. It was a small crowd but totally worth the time. Our girls were camera shy today but here is some of their work! Thank you to everyone who helped make the launch of Chicktime Grand Rapids so special and we can’t wait to see you all again next month!
