Meet The Leaders

Margo Russell

Chicktime Kansas City Chapter Leader

chicktimekc@gmail.com

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:

I decided to serve with Chicktime because I would like to make a difference in the lives of teen girls. Being able to provide workshops and activities to the girls brings me joy. Chicktime gives them the opportunity to introduce us to their passions, hobbies, and talents. Since the start of my Journey with Chicktime I have learned a lot about myself and it continues to help me grow.

My passions and gifts:
I  have a passion for helping others. I love listening to others stories and talking about shared experiences. In this role with Chicktime, I am very excited to work with other women that have the same passion to change the lives of those who need us most. My true passions are my children and family.

Hobbies and Interests:
I  enjoy spending time with my children. Love reading, baking and playing board games.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:

I decided to serve with Chicktime because I wanted to use my time and resources to help build strong, confident, and resilient women through work with teen girls.  Through my previous work in a residential facility for teens, I saw just how important it was for the girls to have positive adults in their lives.  I love that Chicktime gives me the opportunity to do just that.

My passions and gifts:

I have a heart for service and spend most of my personal and professional time doing what I can to improve the lives of those that need it the most.

Hobbies and Interests:

I have too many!  Reading, cooking, music (I play 4 instruments), dancing (although not very well), watching movies, and staying active through running, swimming, and yoga.  I love to travel and I am always up for a new adventure.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:

I simply love inspiring others to reach their full potential. After a few years back being introduced to personal development skills I then adapted to a new lifestyle change of trying to become better both mentally and physically. With this newfound way of living I also found that spending my time serving others and spreading the idea of improving one’s self  gave me much joy and fulfillment in giving back to the community and the society as a whole. As giving back does not always have to be about having the most funds to give, but serving can be by making our country better through personal service, and pushing others to grow into their strengths and talents.

My passions and gifts:

My passion is to help children and young women to achieve their goals and dreams. Through learning the power of living with a positive attitude, (which is a daily practice) instead of waiting for external things to happen in my life to give me delight, instead I create my own level of happiness by keeping the right mindset, enjoying the small pleasures in life, and constantly just trying to become better than the person I was the day before. My gifts are sharing with others how to build and live with a healthy self-esteem and self-image. Through the acts of boosting self-confidence, keeping the power of laughter alive, and leaning on enthusiasm and faith even when times look the bleakest in our lives, it is teaching others that we already have all of the tools within us to live the grand lives that we all hope for.

Life is our gift, and as one of my favorite authors Les Brown quotes, “Lift as you climb” and that is ultimately how I choose to live my life, and that is too not only celebrate my own personal victories, but also bring others along for the ride to discover theirs.

 My hobbies and interest:

Spending time with my boys, family, and friends, Reading, Traveling, Exercising, Enjoying nature and taking long walks, Planting, Gardening, Chiefs football and Ku Basketball.
