About Our Chapter
Hello and welcome! My name is Brittney and I’m the chapter leader of Chicktime New Braunfels. When I became a mother a few years ago I was shocked at how unexpectedly hard it was. As I adjusted and grew, I felt God calling me to serve other young mothers. I am passionate about helping young women who are struggling with the obstacles life has thrown at them and letting them know how much they are loved and valued.
I am a stay at home mother of 4 precious little girls who mean the world to our family. As a stay at home mother it’s easy to lose yourself and your since of purpose in this world. That’s why I was so excited when I had an opportunity to serve the young women at SJRC. It only took one visit and I was hooked! I instantly fell in love with the girls and they consumed my thoughts and prayers. When Christmas came around, I found myself so worried about the girls and their Christmas wants and needs. The Chicktime ladies all worked together and found other volunteers and we were able to get all of the children we serve the items on their Christmas wish lists. It was magical!
One great thing about Chicktime is that it is something that anyone can get involved with. You don’t have to commit to a schedule and it really only requires that you show up for a few hours the first week of the month to spend time with these precious girls. Of course, the magic of it is that after you’ve spent time with them, you want to be involved on a deeper level! I am hoping that more women will join our team over time and develop desires to get involved with us!

Deborah Smith Founded Chicktime New Braunfels in 2017 when she realized she had a calling from God to make a difference in this lives of the young ladies in her community suffering from abuse, neglect and trauma. Deborah was passionately committed to making a pathway for others in her community to help these precious girls realize just how beautiful they are and how much God loves them.
Her journey from retirement found her searching for a way for God to use her to make a difference in her community. At that time, she set out on a search for volunteer opportunities in her town, New Braunfels. Deborah came across many wonderful organizations but the one that touched her heart the most was Chicktime. She determined it was a wonderful organization aligned with her vision to bring love and joy to a group of young ladies that come from hard places- abuse, neglect and trauma. She knew right way she had to get involved! When Deborah realized there was not a Chicktime in New Braunfels she knew that had to change! God lead her to inquire about starting a chapter in town. She contacted Lori Rhodes and signed up for her volunteer experience at Chicktime -Canyon Lake. Deborah was so excited she could hardly sleep! Her experience on that beautiful Saturday in May was just amazing. Deborah was in such awe at how showing these precious young ladies a little love and grace made an enormous difference in their lives. She could see the joy in their eyes. She was not sure who was blessed the most- herself or the girls! Deborah was hooked! She knew she had found exactly where God wanted her to be.
Another reason Deborah was so drawn to Chicktime stemmed from her belief that having a group of loving girlfriends is one of the biggest blessings in her life. She loves that Chicktime is about bringing ladies in the community together to share their passions and gifts to make a difference in the world and develop those long lasting friendships we all crave. Deborah believes all women need friends! She has been blessed to have a dear group of 9 girlfriends who have walked the journey of life with her for almost two decades. They have shared so much together. Deborah knows she would not be the person she is today without them in her life. She recognizes her friends are all so unique and bring different gifts and passions to the group and Deborah believes that diversity is the critical factor that has created a special bond for so many years. Her original vision for the New Braunfels chapter was based on gathering a group of likeminded ladies and (in Deborah’s own words) “developing lasting friendships that change our little corner of the world. I will always be believe with Chicktime New Braunfels we can do that.”
