OKC North News
We made beaded bracelets and the girls LOVED them. Had lots of girly time/talk:) It’s so much fun to watch them doing something they really enjoy. Zumba had to be postponed, but will be having a Zumba day soon!!
We had a blast last month with the girls during Spa Day! The Chicktime OKC women painted lots of little fingers and toes. We also did facials, pampering the girls with face massages and masks. They absolutely love when we do Spa Day:) And it was so rewarding to the ladies to get to pamper these sweet girls.
First I want to thank the amazing women who spent their Saturday with us last weekend! What wonderful blessings each of you were. The kids had a great time making cards and I could see and feel them open up so much over the time they spent with us! For those of you who couldn’t make it, we had the girls make cards for the girl on their right and they had to get to know them a little bit. We also had some yummy treats for them to eat, which they REALLY enjoyed!
This month (March 23rd) we will be doing ZUMBA! We have a great instructor who is going to come and show the girls (and us) some moves. It is going to be a ton of fun! We will also have some “healthy” snacks to go along with the fitness theme. I hope you will be there. Please let me (Amanda) know if you are interested in helping out!
I hope each of you has a wonderful weekend! Stay safe and enjoy you families, friends and loved ones to the fullest! Do something great for someone else and watch the blessings ripple!

I’m a little late posting this, but as we all know, life gets away from us sometimes. Sometimes our priorities get a little jumbled and we mess up. I talked with my youth at church today about that. We discussed choosing BEST over GOOD, not necessarily just GOOD over BAD. Let me explain: Sometimes we choose things that aren’t bad for us, but they just aren’t what’s BEST for us. For example, reading a book instead of watching a television show isn’t BAD…but what if we spent that time DOING something meaningful for others. Wouldn’t that be BETTER…maybe even BEST? While I spent my week just trying to keep my head above water with a sick baby and a deployed husband…what I was doing was choosing GOOD over BAD (I could have been wallowing in self-pity, ha!)…but what if I had chosen BEST over GOOD? What would that have looked like and how could I have blessed others in the process? I will never know, but I can move forward and do something about it next time! I challenge each of you to choose BEST over GOOD this week – whatever that looks like in your life. Change one thing in your daily life that is just GOOD and make it better…do something. If you aren’t already a member of our chapter, I encourage you to become one! There is no obligation to come every month – only when you can, and you will see first hand what love can do in the lives of children! If you ARE a member already – get ready, get set, GO! We need leaders for each month (February and March are taken!), so if you have a talent or passion for something you would like to share with these girls, PLEASE contact me and sign up for whatever month is great for you!
Remember we are embarking on a big journey this year. We have the amazing opportunity to change the lives of children in our community for the better. We can remind them who they are…Children of God. We can remind them that they deserve to be loved, and cherished, as the gifts they are…just because -THEY ARE. It doesn’t come with a price. It doesn’t come with an obligation. What an amazing and powerful lesson for them!
Are you ready to change some lives? We will be meeting Saturday February 23rd from 1:30 to 3:00 to spend some time with and love on the girls at the Pauline E. Mayer Shelter. We will be focusing on “love” this month and will be doing crafts and enjoying some great snacks! It will be a time full of giggles, smiles, love and fellowship! Come see what happens! I promise you’ll leave with immense blessings.
Please contact me for more information or to get started in becoming a member of our chapter.
