This month’s devotional was based on Angela Hunt’s book for children, “A Tale of Three Trees.” We all have dreams, some get shattered but God has better dreams for us & we just need to trust him because we know he loves us.
Then we played an ice breaker game called “Your Autograph Please!” It was fun to find out what people have done in their life. Last we made bunnies out of washcloths.
Many of the ladies wanted to make them for their children & grandchildren. Thank you to everyone who came out for Chicktime April! We hope to see YOU next month =}
We had a great time make fleece scarves today with the guests at Women’s Crisis. We had 7 ladies (& one young lady) participate and 5 total volunteers. We had fun and there were lots of creative juices flowing.
Due to the weather, we have decided to cancel Chicktime this month! We apologize for any inconvenience and hope you will join us next month!
We had a great time on Sunday at at the Rockford Rescue Mission making fall crafts. Scarecrows, pumpkins & leaves … we’re ready for everything fall has to offer! We hope to see YOU at Chicktime November!
We had a great time with the women and children making homemade cards using stamps and our imagination. Even the boys got involved and had fun! A staff member joined in and had fun making her card. Thank you to everyone who attended Chicktime September!
Chicktime Rockford is re-grouping and taking a break for the spring. We will start our activities back up this summer. We would love for you to lead a craft activity or a fun activity related to your interests and/or hobbies this year. Basically, we need 7 women to reach out to us and offer to bring an activity to the women we serve at the Rockford Rescue Mission. Please contact Stacy for more information @ StacyShewey@outlook.com! If you would like to volunteer at the Rockford Rescue Mission during our off season, please contact the shelter directly @

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15
Rockford Rescue Mission’s Women’s Crisis Center
809 Cedar Street, Rockford
Beth did a fabulous job reading an inspirational book to all of us while we enjoyed popcorn and root beer floats. After the story we reflected and answered thought provoking questions.
The Chicktime Teens took the little ones off to another room where they made fall crafts, had popcorn and then played tag outside.
You can tell by the pictures everyone had a good time.
The Rock ladies (mom and daughters) hosted our September event. They brought fall puzzles for the ladies at the Crisis Center to work on. The big hit of the afternoon was making taffy apples. There was a wide variety of edible decorations to add to the apples. It was a yummy and sticky time for all!
Rockford Chicktime Chicks are encouraged to join us as we plan for the future of our Rockford Chapter on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM. We will gather at Thunder Bay Grill, 7652 Potawatomi Trail, Rockford (East State Street – across from Wal-mart). We will have a designated area where we can sit (have a coffee or soda) for a planning/strategy meeting as we look to how God is going to work through each of us and our chapter.
Please take a few minutes to watch this video before the meeting:
Can’t wait to see you on September 13th!
What a memorable visit we had to the crisis center this month. We were blessed to have Nuria Minue, an exchange student from Granada, Spain, lead our program. Nuria had a power point presentation for all of us highlighting her country, village and a typical Spanish day which has crazy meal times of breakfast at 7am, lunch at 3pm and dinner at 10pm! She taught us all some phrases in Spanish and she answered many questions that we all had about her culture. It was informative and educational.
Even though it was not a very sunshiny day the ladies and children of the mission were beaming with excitement! We had so much fun at our picnic. Our Chicktime Chicks brought donuts, chips, watermelon, but the fried Chicken which was a huge hit!! We played several games, showed our creative sides with sidewalk chalk, played with bubbles and most of all enjoyed our time making new friends and getting caught up with the old ones.
When: Sunday, May 18, 2015
Where: Rockford Rescue Mission’s Women’s Crisis Center
Have you heard of water color paints? How about water color nails? Join us as Morgan shows us a new nail technique to embellish our nails. Should be an enjoyable afternoon with the ladies at the Crisis Center! Hope you can make it!
The ladies and children at the Women’s Crisis Center showed off their culinary skills with a cupcake decorating competition. Not only were they appealing to the eye but the palette too.
We were able to catch some “chalk time” outside before the rain came down. It was fun to teach the children play hopscotch and decorate the sidewalk with flowers, butterflies and all things spring.
A little bit of hopscotch…
Chalk time fun
Join us on April 19th for some creative fun. We are going to break out the sidewalk chalk and let the imagination go wild. Come help us color our world.
Easter was just around the corner so we hopped right onto decorating eggs. Let me tell you that it was not just the kids that had a great time!
It was a cold February day, a perfect day to stay in and play games with puzzles. Teams were formed and each team raced to finish their puzzle first. Boy did we see the competitive spirit come out in our ladies
I am sure you could hear the laughter a mile away!
The weather outside was frightful but inside our hearts were delightful because Beth lead us in a fun time creating origami Valentines. The ladies and children learned to fold a love knot and a heart. Some were using them to save their favorite scripture passage while others made them into a card to give to someone. We even had time for a little Bible trivia. What fun!
Can you fold paper? Then you can join us for our January Chicktime on January 15, 2015 at the Rockford Rescue Mission’s Women’s Crisis Center. Beth is going to lead us as we create origami Valentines with the ladies and children. We will gather from 2:15-3:30 PM for a LOVEly time.
We welcomed 2015 in with an early New Year’s Eve Party with pizza and pop and some games. In lieu of a New Year’s resolution, we decided on a word to focus on for the coming year. The ladies at the Women Crisis Center contemplated what “Word for the Year” they would chose in order to bring about positive change in their lives. It was inspiring as several of the women shared their words.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Help us celebrate the coming new year with the residents at the Rockford Rescue Mission’s Women’s Crisis Center on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 2:15-3:30. Rockford Chicktime leaders and members will be having a pizza party and time to reflect on a “focus” word for 2015. Of course, we’ll have a game to play too!
WOW – the cards that the residents at the mission created were beautiful. Val brought many different mediums so the ladies and children had a lot to chose from to make cards for their loved ones. It was so exciting to see how happy the children were with their creations. We had glitter everywhere!!! It was a sparkling good time!
Val will be hosting our November Chicktime at the Rockford Rescue Mission’s Women’s Crisis Center. Join Val and the residents on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 2:15-3:30 as Val shares her love of creating cards.
Mmmm-what a special treat! Maggie brought all the trimmings to make yummy candy apples. Not only did we get to taste the fall season, but Maggie got everyone ready for Halloween with a fun Halloween trivia game. What a wonderful fall afternoon with the ladies and children at the mission!
Please come and help the women and children at Rockford Rescue Mission’s Women’s Crisis Center celebrate the fall season. Join Maggie on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 2:15-3:30 for an enjoyable afternoon.
C-A-N-D-Y Bingo cards, Skittles for game pieces and candy prizes made for a sweet time as Beth and Chicktime gals played several games of Candy BINGO with the ladies and children at the mission. Candy sure brings a lot of smiles!
Do you have a sweet tooth? Well if you do, you’ll want to join us for a game of Candy BINGO on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 2:15-3:30 at Rockford Rescue Mission’s Women’s Crisis Center.
Who knew that Taboo could be so much fun? Attica and her daughter provided a ruckus of a good time with the women at the mission playing Taboo. “You can’t say that” rang out so many times as everyone laughed their way through the afternoon. Cleo and Morgan came and shared their time by watching the little ones so the moms could have a break and enjoy some free time.
