Meet The Leaders

Why I serve a co-leadership role with Chicktime:
I believe every person is precious and loved by God. Unfortunately, not everyone knows this. Too few people are told that they are loved, and too many face the injustice of abuse. I think Chicktime is a beautiful opportunity to live out God’s heart for those suffering from abuse. Through Chicktime Spring Hill, I believe that is accomplished in the context of the youth shelter we serve.

My passions and gifts:

I have a special place in my heart for children and teens dealing with trauma and stress- much like those we see at Chicktime. I also believe in empowering women and girls through education, especially those who are told that they can’t or shouldn’t. I feel that the possibility that we could inspire a child of any gender to recognize their own passions and gifts makes the work we do at Chicktime well worth it. I consider my stubbornness a gift when it pushes me to work hard and refuse to accept injustice as an unavoidable part of life.

Hobbies and interests:
I love to relax through music and cooking: I play the violin and especially love to bake. Tennis helps to keep me active; it helps that it’s also fun. Additionally, even if I wasn’t studying psychology as a student, I would probably still end up reading about it because I love it so much. I enjoy working with numbers and watching them take meaning in research, which is why I volunteer at a suicide prevention lab as a research assistant, and assist in a project studying the benefits of art for veterans.
