There was so much going on tonight that we missed out on getting two of our beloved volunteers, Cheryl Allan and Stacy Carter Smith , in the picture ?
Stacy pampered the women with fresh hairstyles and the kiddos had a blast keeping us on our toes!!
Thank you to everyone that contributed to the living room project.
The residents love the bright and cheerful decore, a stocked bookshelf and a comfortable place to sit.
Thank you Kristen Wilbern for bringing your energy, love and creativity to us last night! And of course a big thank you to our faithful Chicktime volunteers! I love serving with you each month.
Please take a moment to pray for our local domestic abuse shelter and the residents staying there. Pray for their needs to be met, jobs to be gotten and their prayers to be answered. Pray for women staying there to lift each other up and to keep moving forward even when it seems too hard.
Tonight we all worked together to practice our job interview skills. We also got to play with the cutest kiddos!!! Dinner was delicious as always. There are a couple of our loved volunteers that did not make it into our picture tonight.
Feeling thankful for the privilege of coming together month after month to serve!
Our April workshop was beautiful! Our time at the shelter is every bit of challenging as it is life changing! In addition to our monthly workshops, we are sponsoring a living room and hoping to fill it with uplifting and encouraging books. Remodeling is underway!! Our charity partner is getting a much needed refresh and we are excited to be a part of that! We are hoping it will be a place for the women to renew and encourage each other. We are excited to begin furnishing this space!
When we arrived at our March Workshop there was heaviness in the air. Sadness. Frustration. Fear.
Never underestimate the power of food, a room full of women and prayer. What a transformation we got to experience tonight. As we cooked, and talked there was so much laughter and so many stories and hugs. Thank you Cara Jones for leading our activity and to every awesome volunteer that came! To be able to smile and laugh when life has got you displaced and uncertain of the future is a gift. God is good~ (Only volunteers in the pictures)~
There is nothing like a big pot of soup on a COLD winter night. This was certainly an extra treat at our January workshop!
Journals can be powerful tools for healing and growth.
Each woman received a journal to fill and spent the evening decorating it with quotes to keep them inspired!
We will back next month….Come be part of the love we share with each other!
Polaroid’s are so fun!! But not near as fun and meaningful as our monthly workshops!
From month to month, we go to serve but we can’t help but feel like we are the ones who receive the blessings when we leave!
This month, the mom’s got adult time getting pampered with some Mary Kay. The kids got to have some fun decorating pumpkins!
We are having a Thanksgiving party next month. Join us!
What fun it was getting to do something special for Operation Christmas Child by making toys to put in the Christmas boxes!
God always knows exactly what we need, too! The ladies commented that the lasagna meal with cake was exactly what they needed.
We would be honored to have you join us next month to help us encourage these beautiful people!
Inspirational Art with Art Teacher Kristen Wilbern and pizza from The Creek Pub & Grill made this a much needed night for a full house of ladies and children!
We painted, ate, played, laughed and shared some of the beautiful promises from our amazing Father.
We had a packed house tonight for a very important session.
A HUGE thank you to Emily Miller (green belt) and Steve Oh (black belt) for sharing self defense to the residents!
It’s always so amazing the gifts and passions our community shares with the residents through Chicktime Springfield!
Hope to see everyone back for our August Workshop!
