Meet The Leaders

Angie Leavens
Chicktime Tampa Founder & Leader

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
I’ve always been a driven individual with a passion of serving others. Similarly, I love getting my friends together for some much-needed girl time, and Chicktime allows for both of these things. I want to encourage other women to be passionate about a cause that betters our community. I’m confident that as a result it will allow each of us to lead a more empowered and purposeful life, as it simultaneously betters the lives of the children and teens we will serve.

My hobbies & interest:
I love planning stay-cations with my daughter at Disney World, not so much a hobby, but Disney itself is something that we get to enjoy together. Also, being a boutique owner for women’s clothes is like hobby for me because it is something I love to do and even better that it’s my job! I have been able to connect me with amazing women and make life-long friendships, built self-confidence in myself and others, and created a strong bond between my sister and me. I love doing my own manicures, playing around with makeup, DIY projects, and all things girly. Oh, and shopping… Target is my go-to for retail therapy, but Amazon has my heart too!

My Passions & Gifts:
Education has always been of upmost value to me. I love to learn and to teach, I’m sure that one day I will venture back into the classroom or school setting. For now, my passion is watching my daughter grow, experiencing little moments with her that are big in the grand scheme of things. I work hard to be able to have what I like to call “middle of the day moments” with her, and everything I do stems from the love that she ignited in me from the moment she was born.

Elizabeth Burchell
Chicktime Tampa Co-Leader

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I’m an attorney practicing in Tampa, Florida with a focus in child welfare and family matters. I am a mother to two spirited toddler girls and the wife of a hardworking, loving man. Our home and hearts are full with a sweet pit bull, spunky kitten and lots of fish. I love God, fresh flowers, and a quiet day at the beach. I take great pride in my unconventional path that led me to where I am today. In college, I studied fashion marketing while working as a legal assistant. Over the years my passion for the law bloomed as I realized I was horrible with a sewing machine. I ended up pursuing a law degree and immediately faced many doors being slammed in my face. But I persisted, and I succeeded. Some joke that I am the real-life Elle Woods, (yes, I even had a chihuahua while in law school), but in reality, I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am today, overcoming many obstacles and failures along the way. I believe in surrounding oneself with positive people, smiling at strangers and helping those in need. I hope my story inspires others to never give up on themselves. Every day is a new beginning. Take a deep breath, smile, and start again.

I was honored when asked to join a leadership role in Chicktime by my dear friend, Angie. Angie and I were the best of friends in high school, but life took our paths separate ways in college. As adults, we reconnected as we both started having children at the same time. We quickly realized our bond as adults was just as strong as it was when we were teenagers. When Angie told me we would be working with the Children’s Home Network, I knew without a doubt that no matter how busy and chaotic my life was that this was something I needed to be a part of. I’ve worked in child welfare law for the last 14 years and have always longed to use this knowledge base to do great things outside of my office. I look forward to working with volunteers and educating them on the child welfare system and what they can do to help better our community.
My hobbies & interest:
Considering I’m a new attorney with two young children, my hobbies and interests include reading case law, living room dance parties with my kids and watching Disney, Jr. I also love a great pedicure, watching the sunset, and pool days with the family. I believe music is a wonderful way to release emotions. My playlist consists of everything from top pop, to classical, to rap. The art and passion put into music is so interesting to me. I’m pretty creative and I’d like to call myself crafty, but my crafts don’t always turn out so well.

My Passions & Gifts:
I’ve been told I’m a good listener and problem solver. I tend to be one people naturally come to seeking advice, I guess that’s one of the qualities that makes me great for my profession. I am able to objectively navigate emotional situations and guide others through difficult times. I am passionate about helping others and being a voice for the voiceless.

Emily Hone
Chicktime Tampa Co-Leader

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
Hello! My name is Emily and I always say that volunteering is in my blood! Thanks to my parents I have been volunteering for as long as I can remember. One of the first life lessons I learned from them was to always make sure that I left the world better than I found it. That is something they would say over and over and it has always stuck with me. When Angie approached me with this idea I knew immediately it was going to be something very special! Empowerment of women through service to the community is so important and is something I feel so blessed to be a part of.
My hobbies and interest:
As parents of 3 young children, a rambunctious American Bulldog and a very large bearded dragon as well as juggling very demanding careers, my husband and I have become experts at managing our everyday “beautiful chaos” as we like to call it. When I do get a precious few quiet moments I am an avid reader. I enjoy crafting and part planning as well. But mainly my interests are centered around my kids. Spending as much quality time with them as I can is so important to me. I read an article about how there are only 940 Saturdays in childhood! Time is fleeting and not slowing down anytime soon so I try to make the best of every minute I can.
My Passion and Gifts:
I am super passionate about involvement in my community. Not only do I volunteer often but I also serve on several boards and committees. Vice president for the Sunday South Gandy Civic Association is my most recent undertaking as well as a board member at my local library. I am a dance mom, football mom, a homeroom mom and vice president of my children’s parent teacher committee. Serving other in my community is something that I take great pride in and I hope to share that with as many people as possible!
